A Workshop on Inclusion in Marketing and Media
In a sector that focuses on engaging people, telling their stories and captivating audiences on a daily basis whether through marketing, public relations or as a media outlet, you hold the power to shape beliefs and change attitudes…every day.
Stories that involve persons with disabilities, however, often do not reflect the lived experience of the individual, expose the power they hold or normalize their place in the day to day campaigns that make up the media in our environment. Often framed in a negative manner we hear words and see images that depict suffering, confinement, helplessness and vulnerability. The biggest challenge is that sometimes persons with disabilities don’t even make it in the picture at all.
The good news is there are lots of ways to change how persons with disabilities are portrayed in the media. In this workshop, we will train marketing professionals and media to discover ways to explore positivity and expose the power in every story!
